I'm not in the industry, but I'll gladly say it's bollocks. It gives me enormous pleasure to do so. I've never had much respect for Paxman, and this confirms all my worst suspicions about him.

It would be lovely if another man with similar status at the BBC stood up and said how ridiculous it was With Statistics, though. I mean, I can see why they would think that it wasn't their place and that a woman should answer this kind of charge, but it does make it seem men-vs.-womeny rather than common-sense-vs.-being-a-wankery.

It would indeed. Although I can't help wondering if whoever wrote the article simply went direct to Frostrup because it made a nice "boyz v. girlz" story. It would be genuinely interesting to see other prominent male BBC employees be asked whether they agreed with Paxo.
